‘Therefore they inquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. further. 23 And the LORD answered, Behold, HE HATH HID HIMSELF AMONG THE STUFF. 23. And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was HIGHER than any of the people from his shoulders and upward.’

The above narrative is taken from 1st Samuel, 10:22-23, which highlights the call of Saul to take his rightful place to rule as King of Israel.

When it was the appointed time for his elevation, instead of stepping up to the plate, he hid himself behind the baggage supplies, so that he would not have to take on the responsibilities of leadership.

Many of us are similar to Saul at times. We are the best for the assigned God given task and responsibility, bespoke tailored for us to achieve, however due to ominous reasons we hide behind our excess baggage.

The baggage can be physical stuff, like a past mistake, unforgiveness, bitterness, unresolved issues, the fear of failure, or a negative world view due to disappointment or mistreatment.

It could be due to the the feelings we have about ourselves that were placed there by the unkind words and actions of those who should have loved and nurtured us.

It could be the inner vows we have made about ourselves, and the deep-down contradiction of our belief about God that we have in our heads and not in our hearts.

Join me on Tuesdays morning from 6:00am, as we seek, Father God to help us lay aside all of the ‘stuff,’ the excess baggage that we often hide behind that hinder us when great opportunities arise!

I am looking forward to praying with you soon!

Grace and Peace
